If you want to know what to sell on eBay to beat the recession – no, to survive the recession with style and grace – you will be interested in a recent query that I received from a reporter at Inc. Magazine:

“I’m writing a story … (about) the closeout industry – items like movies, books and video games. Seems that the recession has caused a boom for these kinds of (items). And specifically for entertainment-related products.”

This is no surprise. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, movies and radio were incredibly popular. We can assume that people liked to spend a couple of hours in a movie theater to forget their troubles and it’s no different today. With less income to spend on entertainment outside the home, items of entertainment for home use are a booming business!

What Is “Closeout Merchandise”?

Our reporter’s query mentioned the closeout industry but what does she mean by that? Closeout items are often mentioned as a synonym with “overstock” and “liquidation” and indeed the lines between them are blurred. Closeout generally refers to discontinued products, shelf pulls and items that were returned to stores by customers.

In the past, buying closeout involved buying very large amounts. Merchandise is still offered by lots, pallets, trailers, truckloads and container loads. Since the explosion of online selling, though, it’s possible to find vendors that will sell in smaller amounts.

Our reporter mentioned entertainment items as being very ‘hot’, so where can we find these goodies at a price where we can resell and make a profit? It’s not that hard. Here are a few examples.

1. Brandywine Liquidators, Tampa FL 33619

Closeout deals are, of course, constantly changing but today Brandywine is offering new, popular title, VHS movies for $.20 each. The ‘catch’ is that the buyer must take 1,000. That means your total investment would be 0.

Is there a market for VHS movies on eBay? I wouldn’t have thought so – but I’m wrong. Go to eBay and type “VHS movies” into the search box. Today there are a staggering 102,937 listings. The cheapest price on new movies is while the top prices are 0+ for Michael Jackson movies. Even if you sold your movies at the lowest prices of , your investment would be 0 – and your profit ,000.

2. B & D Salvage, Earl NC 28038

This surplus company is offering ‘NASCAR Race Warrior Comic Books’. There is a minimum order of 100 at
$.20 cents each or you can order 300 pieces at $.17 each. There are only three of these for sale today on eBay, but their prices range from .99-.00.

Want some higher priced items to sell on eBay? Then how about “Assorted Video Games and Accessories for Nintendo Wii, PlayStation3 and Xbox 360″? You must buy 100 of them, but are you ready for the price? An astounding .14! Check out eBay to see the profits on these.

3. Sara Trading Inc., Bridgeview, IL 60455

Sara trading is today offering “Gameshark for PlayStation”: cost and a minimum of 50 pieces must be ordered. The current sale price on eBay averages around , for a profit of . If you bought 50 your cost would be 0 and you would make 0.

Beat The Recession

Naturally, you must be careful when deciding on any merchandise to sell on eBay, Google, Amazon or anywhere else. Here are guidelines that will keep you profitable.

1. Never, never believe anyone else’s estimates of profits. There are merchandisers who will give inflated retail prices to lure in unskilled sellers: “Our price: 0, Retail price: 0″ … and the retail price may be a complete lie.

2. Usually, your best sources will not be the big, flashy sites on the Net. Countless times I’ve heard students say, “My wholesale price on the Net is higher than what they’re selling for on eBay!”. That is quite true. The folks who have the really good deals want to deal with serious sellers, instead of Internet-wannabes, and generally have terrible websites – if they have any at all.

3. The good news: most of them have “notification lists”. Generally, these are by email but a few suppliers still offer fax lists. If you are on these lists you will often find incredible deals but you must act quickly or they will be gone.

We have other articles about finding wholesale bargains but closeout and liquidation can bring in large sums of money. There are always people spending money, even in the worst of times, and surviving a recession in comfort is simple: figure out what people will buy during these hard times. What to sell on eBay certainly is no mystery.

There are many games available online these days, but few make it to the mantle of being truly addictive. The sensation of raw adrenaline rushing through your body when you are just about to make it to the next level is the hallmark of a prototype of an addictive game. Addictive games are the reason why dinner goes cold, girlfriends leave and kids get bad grades at school. It is always the thrill of that one more game, one last turn and one final play, which keeps the adrenaline rushing. Though you may end up at your shrink’s place for saying this, but most gamers play for this rush of excitement; the gut gripping, hair splitting sensation that comes when you are playing a game which has you glued to your controls all night. That is what addiction is and that is also what addictive games do to hardcore gamers. According to most gaming fanatics, the virtual world is the only addiction worth having; all else is pure noise.

One of the most addictive games known to the gaming world is the Half-Life 2. It is a science-fiction that outdoes the legacy of the first game. It has effectual storytelling, fearsome enemy smarts, and a huge variety of true-to- life environments. Another feature which makes the game an all time favorite is the innumerable downloadable modifications that the makers have come up with. This game is any gamers’ trip, starting with the firing of the first shot.

Another undisputed addictive game is the Neverwinter Nights. The myriad of features and upgrades which have been fitted into this game, since its conception, makes it BioWare’s most addictive game, ever. In this game there is always new equipment to win and novel challenges to beat all along the way. Not only that, the game also has myriads of highly-rated adventures, which can be downloaded for free. This game is a bottomless abyss of excitement for all gamers.

The last and a personal favorite is the Grand theft Auto, San Andreas. This game takes the booty when it comes to addictive games. The thrill of taking territory from hostile gangs in Los Santos, hitting the casino tables of Las Venturas, gives you a high like no other. Even after you are done playing every mission and you think you have seen the story to its conclusion, there is still more to do. There are Hummers to steal, cars, trucks, motorcycles, airplanes, and helicopters to run for a theft. You even get to command your own tank! Now if that is not pure adrenaline through your veins, then what is?

Widely regarded as the best car racing game ever developed and also one of the greatest games ever across all genres. Most people will have this game in their favourites list. 3. NASCAR 2010
Quite simply the best NASCAR game to appear on any games console. This game has stunning graphics and an excellent level of playability. There is a management element with this game to go with the racing so this provides variety. So, the actual NASCAR fans can enjoy tweaking about with their engine and everybody else can enjoy the racing side of the game.
4. Midnight Club LA
Probably the hippest car racing game ever. Rockstar have created a seedy, underground backdrop for this brilliant racing game. In terms of style this game cannot be beaten. You race for your own survival as well as victory. Put all this together, add an ultra cool soundtrack, and you have one hell of a game.
5. WipEout Pulse
A game of such high quality you actually feel you are driving a hovercar. The problem with many futuristic racing games is that they focus on creating the feel of the future rather than concentrating on the playability of the game. This game manages to get the balance just right. The racing is fast and smooth and the combat is great fun. In fact the one word to describe this game would be fun.
6. ATV Offroad Fury 2
In this game you race quad bikes rather than cars so you can imagine there are plenty of thrills to be had. Dirt tracks, bumps and jumps all add to the overall enjoyment of this game. Yiu can take this game online to play against other gamers and this adds a whole new element.

You may not agree with the order of this list but I think you will agree you cannot go wrong with any of these racers. If you’d rather go with real-life driving, please check our used cars for sale listings and you might find the car you want.

The information given in this guide will show you how to easily copy your Playstation and Playstation 2 games and how to play burned PS2 games on your PS2 system. You’ll find all of the information that you need to burn backup copies of PS2 game disks. First, you’ll need to have the following items: a personal computer with a CD burner, some CD-R blanks (not CDR-RW). You’ll also need CDRWIN, Fireburner, and CPS2 Patcher software installed.

Burning the PS2 game

It’s easy to learn how to play burned PS2 games: It’s a simple, three-step process: read the game, patch it, and burn it to a CD disk, as follows:

1. Insert the original game into the CD drive.

2. Open the CDRWIN application and click on the Extract Disk/Tracks/Sectors button.
  * Set the following controls on the computer screen.
  * For Exact Mode, select Disk Image/Cue Sheet.
  * For Read Options, select Raw.
  * For Error Recovery, select Abort.
  * For Jitter Correction, select Auto.
  * For Subcode Analysis, select Auto.
  * Ensure that Data Speed and Audio Speed are the same.
  * For Read Retry Count, enter “0.”
  * For Subcode Threshold, enter 300.
  * Ensure that the drive holding your PS2 game is selected.
  * Ensure that the file name of the game is entered, and press the Start button

Note: If the game disk is scratched, the CDRWIN will not be able to read it, and you will see a message displayed indicating, “Can’t read section xxxx-xxxxx of disk.* If this happens, try to clean the disk. If the message reappears after cleaning the disk, use a different copy of the same game to complete the process.

3. When CDRWIN is completed, click the OK button, and exit CDRWIN.

4. Open the PS2 Patcher, select the game file you just created, select the RAW option, and patch it.

5. Close the PS2 Patcher, open up Fireburner, and click on the Visual Cue Burner button.

6. If the .CUE file contains the game name, drag it into the Fireburner window. If it was not created, drag the .BIN file into the Fireburner window.

7. Right-click the file in the Fireburner window, and select Burn/Test Burn.

8. In the Options window, select the CD Writer, select the Write Speed, and select “Track at once for the recording method.”

9. Ensure that Eject CD and Close Session are checked.

10. Click OK to begin burning the PS2 game.

Burning a Playstation (PS1) Game

Playstation 1 games can be burned using the same methods given above for the PS2 games, but that is not necessary. There is an easier way. For Playstation 1 games, all you need to make a new game copy is a program that lets you make exact copies or backup disks. You needn’t select any special options. Knowing how to play burnt game on PS2 games is easy, simply start the game in the same manner as you would a PS2 game. The following directions will lead you through the process. It may seem a bit daunting at first, but after a few times, it will be as easy as falling off of a log.

1. Remove the front of your PS2 game drive. This should snap off easily.

2. Insert your Gameshark 2 CD, making sure that the Gameshark memory card is installed into either one of the two slots.

3. From the Gameshark options, select Start Game.

4. Select Without, and your screen should indicate, “Please insert game disk then press X to continue.”

Note: This part of the process can be confusing for first timers. Its purpose is to open the PS2 console and interchange the Gameshark disk with your burned PS2 game without the machine recognizing that the change has been made. DO NOT press the Eject button on the PS2 to remove the disk.

With the PS2 cover removed, look inside to see a white tab. Use a credit card or similar tool to gently move the white tab to the right until it stops moving. If done correctly, you should now be able to manually open the PS2 console’s CD tray.

5. Remove the Gameshark disk from the PS2 and insert your burned game.

6. Gently push the CD tray into the closed position, being careful not to press the Eject button.

7. Slide the white tab to the left back to its original position, using a paper clip if needed.

8. With the tab back in its original position, press X on the PS2 controller, and observe as your burned PS2 game loads.

That’s it. You’ve done it. Next time it will be even easier.

If you’re fortunate enough to own an XBOX 360, you probably have asked yourself if it’s possible to burn games on your computer. In this article we are going to show you exactly how you can copy XBOX 360 games.

Naturally, you won’t be able to utilize an ordinary disc copying program to copy games. This is because there are copyright protections on the game discs that prevent your computer from being able to read them. In order for your computer to be capable of reading the game discs you need a specialized game copying piece of software.

Thankfully, there are now software companies that have developed specific XBOX 360 game programs that make it possible for your computer to understand the data on the game. These programs allow your computer to produce backups of your XBOX 360 discs.

We want to let you know that these softwares are meant for individuals to make legal backups of games. If you buy an XBOX 360 game and you want to make a copy to have a backup, you can legally use this software. We aren’t promoting any illegal burning of games..

The program works in an easy way; it is like making a copy of a music disc. As soon as you install the software, it pretty much functions on it’s own. You’ll just need to open the program when you wish to copy a game. It’s incredibly user friendly.

You will simply put the game in your disk drive and your computer will create a disc image. After this, when you put in a blank CD-R or DVD-R, the system will automatically copy the game info to the disk.

When you buy a software like this, make sure that you get a moneyback guarantee. Just in case you aren’t happy with it or it doesn’t work on your computer, at least you have a method to get your funds back. It’s rare that you will have any issues with it not working on your computer, but it’s always nice to have the piece of mind that you can get your moneyback just in case.

And please don’t spend too much! That might sound obvious – naturally looking for the best price. However, we have seen some game copying programs prices over – that’s just way too expensive. The most popular program that I know of is far less than fifty dollars and it’s the best one out there.

Simply by copying a PS2 game, you can control the fate of your expensive original game, avoiding the prohibitive cost of replacing them should they become damaged, lost, or stolen. To ensure that you have the maximum protection possible for your games, copy PS2 games, store away the originals for safekeeping, and use the copies for playing. All risk is reduced. If you damage a copy, simply make another. Now let’s see how to copy a PS2 game.

Copying PlayStation 2 games is not very difficult or complicated. With the current widespread availability of PS2 game copying software, it is a simple process and is very similar to the process of burning a normal CD or DVD.

But there are many applications capable of copying PS2 games. If you don’t have a package like this already, search on the internet and choose whichever of the programs seems to be the best for your needs, and download it. Be very careful, however, when making that selection. Some of these websites that offer free software to copy PS2 games may provide viruses or other mal ware along with the program. So I am here recommending one software application called Game Copy Wizard, which enjoys a sound reputation among gamers and receives excellent testimonials from users.

Besides a right game copying software installed to bypass the integrated copy protection scheme on game discs, one need to prepare the following things before copying PS2 game: a PS2 game CD / DVD, a computer with a CD or DVD burner, and A blank CD / DVD disc.

If you have all the equipment and supplies needed, in a very short order, you’ll have a usable, high quality copy of your original PS2 game. The PS2 game copying process can be finished within 5 steps…

Step 1 Determine if the PS2 game you choose to copy requires a CD-R or DVD-R method. Look at the side of the disk that is read by the console (that is, the side without the title/logo). The CD style is purple and the DVD style is silver.

Step 2 Place the PS2 game CD / DVD in the CD reader cum burner of the computer.

Step 3 Start the PS2 game copying software installed onto your computer.

Step 4 Save an image of the disk to your hard drive by identifying the folder where you want to save the new file under “Output Path.” Then click the “OK” button.

Step 5 Insert the correct type of blank disk (CD-R or DVD-R) and tell the software to burn an image of the data you saved.

Now that you have learned how to copy a PS2 game, you should not wait. Take action and begin copying PS2 games with downloading a proper game copying software first. If you can not make up you mind yet, Read the review first. Here is the Game Copy Wizard Review!!!

Renting video games online is the single best way to try video games before you buy. Rent video game online services keep costs down: With many game prices starting at $30 and going as high as $50 and even higher, paying such high prices for video games that might be less than what you expected can be just too big a game. Even though gamers can view “walkthroughs” screen shots online, and other online game samples are available to take a look at how a game works, there is nothing like actual hands on playing to find out whether it’s something you will love, like or hate.
Just like movie rentals, video games are available to rent from many or most movie rental companies, along with some game stores and online as well. The big problem with renting form a local store, though, is that they rarely have a good selection, and it can be very expensive.
As a result, being able to rent video game online is making a big splash. Video game rental is the ultimate in convenience and cost savings. Video game rental means you don’t have to buy a game for $30 or more, but you can try games before buying to make sure it’s a game you want to keep. Just like services like NetFlix or Blockbuster’s movie service through the mail, game rental companies are springing up too.
For teens and older gamers, trying before buying can keep from spending hard-earned money on games that turn out to be duds. Gamers can try nearly every game that’s on the market. And many video game rental companies let you keep the game you want to buy at a discount.
As a parent, online video game rental can be a godsend. Even young gamers now have access to game systems like GameCube. If you have no idea about content of games or which games were any good, video game rental can be a great way to go. Renting games first, you are able to view games before allowing your children to play them, and find out if they are too frightening, or violent or otherwise not appropriate.
Even using the rating system set out by the gaming industry doesn’t always help. One mom explained it this way: “We had one game called Super Smash Brothers that was rated E-10+ meaning better for older kids over ten. But we felt it was fine -just cartoon violence. But another game rated E-10+, the X-Men game, was so violent and bloody that if we hadn’t been able to rent it first we would have been stuck with a game we were not going to let our son watch!” She saved about $50 in game purchasing costs by not having to buy!
The companies that let you rent video game online have incredible selections of games, and have them for every platform on the market – handheld game systems like the Game Boy or Nintendo DS, through GameCube, and the high end too like Xbox, Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. You have many games to choose from. It an be much cheaper than renting from the local store because you won’t pay late fees or shipping; just send back the games when you are through (and you can send back the game that are really terrible right away!) But best of all, many game services offer credits that add up as you continue your subscription. These credits can be applied toward buying games. When you find a game you like, you can usually just keep it and they will send you the box and inserts, with free shipping. In just one sample of purchase pricing, a game that retails for $50 could be purchased for $27 after applying credits and discounts – a really great deal all around!
For gamers that have multiple game systems, such as console as well as handheld, it helps to be able to choose games for short rental periods when going on vacation for example. Most of the time, games are available for all game platforms. For the games you want to rent, you can add them to a “queue” or list, and when one is returned, the next one is sent out. A money savings and less hassle too.
Rent video game online service is a great way to try out games before spending the ever-higher prices to buy them, and can even let you purchase a game at a discount. Take a free trial today – save cash and play all the games you’ve always wanted to try!

Free online games and computer games

I am somewhat of an expert on finding free online games and free computer games online. I, myself, have been dabbling with computers and computer games since I was twelve years old. Today, aside from playing free online games and computer games I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), twice over. I am also certified by Cisco twice over as a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (or CCNA.) I have enjoyed playing free online games and computer games ever since I could remember seeing computer games. In my time, you could not find free online games, but you could purchase computer games – you usually visited an arcade to play pinball, or play some of the video games of the time. READ ON…I AM GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW TO FIND, DOWNLOAD, AND PLAY FREE ONLINE GAMES AND COMPUTER GAMES – MOST ANY GAME THAT YOU WANT TO!!!

Though free online games came later, I first played computer games when I was introduced to the Atari 400 and the Atari 800 Systems, and the Commodore 64 computer. I was playing computer games like “Archon”, “Dungeons and Dragons”, “Abuse”, “Pooyan”, and a handful of others of which I cannot remember! Apple Computers also had a small computer that played computer games made for the Apple Computer system, but I did not delve too far into the Apple world of computer games.

When I was introduced to Personal Computers (PC’s) I immediately saw the potential of where computers could take video and computer games. Again, this was before free online games. I was enjoying games like “Doom”, “Diablo”, “Tomb Raider”, “Myst”, “Mech Warrior”, and even “Leisure Suit Larry”. (Actually, free online games and computer games were then just becoming available online.)

Add to that the amazing recent technological explosions in the world of computers, and the Internet, and free online games and computer games become even more sophisticated and awesome!!! For free online games and computer games, with more powerful computers, and the Internet, plus newer and better computer game controls and monitors, you can enjoy free online games and computer games across high bandwidth connections; free online games and computer games such as “Counter Strike”, and so many others. Much of what you can find on the Internet in terms of free online games and computer games is either “freeware”, or “shareware”; but, some of what you can find are legitimate copies of full version computer games. There are legitimate Wii games download on the web but there are hundreds of scandalous websites. You do not want this to happen to you, so you need to find a legitimate website for downloading Wii games.

One thing that you can do is not to download on websites that have a too good to be true offer, or if you notice that the website is unreliable or unsafe. These websites might contain malware such as viruses and spyware, which could harm your computer.

A legitimate website for download Wii games should look professional and should be well maintained and updated. Its design must look good and not something that looks like it has just been done overnight.

There are two types of a legitimate Wii games download website. The first one is the subscription-based and the other one is the pay-per-download.

A subscription-based website helps you download an unlimited number of games in a certain amount of time. You will have to pay a specific amount of fee to get unlimited number of games for a specific amount of time. This is recommended for those who want to download many games.

The pay-per download website lets you download a game after you have paid for it. This is an online transaction that is similar to buying the game in a local store. Once you have paid the right amount, you can download the game you want. This type of download is recommended for people who simply want to download one game at a time.

Online Games ? the Evolution

Online Games – The Evolution

Now we see thousands of people playing online games such as tetris, ping pong, mario bros, super mario etc for free but despite its history dating back to 1970s, for most people online gaming began with the explosion of Internet in 1993 and with the advent of Doom and Warcraft sometime in 1994 or 1995. This got further boost with publishers starting to add Internet connectivity to computer games in 1994-95.

The media, in fact, have themselves been ignorant about online games history. As far as they are concerned, online gaming just coincidentally happened when their advertisers started producing Internet-capable games. But it isn’t so…

Early Years of development

In early 1950’s a college student created a game much like Tic-Tac-Toe for a class project to be played on dinosaur computers of those days complete with cathode ray tubes for the screen display. The 1960’s had MIT students programming a game called “Space war” that could be played with two people over a primitive network. The late 1960’s brought the first “real” video games like table tennis and shooter games.

The 70s – the game begins

Serious online gaming began with the first interactive online game called ADVENT. In fact networked gaming got conceptualized with ADVENT. Networked gaming had users playing against each other within an online fantasy world. The first networked game was called Mazewar, a game which involved networked players traveling through a maze and attempting to kill one another.

Next came the interpersonal interaction in a multi-player environment. The first such game was called DUNGEN. DUNGEN had players competing against one another to complete a series of quests. DUNGEN provided with new settings and players each time the user logged on.

The late 1970’s saw the start of video game craze with more and more households getting computer savvy. As a natural corollary, people started writing their own games for the home computers. These programming hobbyists traded and sold these home-grown games in local markets.

Other changes in the 1970’s were home gaming consoles which used game cartridges. That meant the people could collect games cartridges for one base unit instead of having bulky game console systems.

The 80s – some pause before the storm

1980’s saw growing craze for the video and computer game craze, but online gaming wasn’t on the horizon yet. New games with better sound and graphics were introduced and gained popularity. Pole Position and Pac-man were two that achieved big popularity. It was during 1980’s when Nintendo introduced its first gaming system.

The 90s – revolution begins

The 1990’s saw the phenomenal growth in both popularity and technology mostly because of the rise of 3-D and multimedia.

Myst, the intellectual adventure game introduced gaming on the CD-ROM format. Fancier 3-D graphics hardware made FPS (first person shooter) games such as Quake possible.

The late 1990’s saw the exponential growth of the Internet, MUDs (multi-user dungeons) which made online games wildly popular. New and improved graphical interfaces had people all over the world playing against each other not only in FPS games but also in real time strategy games (RTS games) as well as third person games like Grand Theft Auto.

This was also the period when websites started offering online games such as tetris, ping pong, mario bros, super Mario, and other free online flash games and non-flash based games free for playing after registering with them. This really pushed online gaming into the popular psyche.

The 21st Century – world is just a playground

Early years of the 21st century were dominated by the DVD-CD-ROM. It has changed the way online games are played. The latest gaming systems such as Sony’s play station and Microsoft’s X-box have networking capabilities to enable people play with each other in real time from all over the world. Exponentially growing broadband internet services have made playing these online games possible in true sense of the word.

The only drawback to the constantly evolving technology for online games is that what you buy today might become obsolete by the next year. Luckily, for the serious gamers, the resale industry for these online games is huge. This resale industry is just another element to the ever-changing history of online game.
